So far this year the House Captains have been very busy and it is only term 1. They spoke to the whole school about their role in school. They have greeted their responsibilities with enthusiasm and seek to be good role models.
They take turns to be monitors on KS1 lunch duty, helping the younger children to settle. Each day two house captains try and spot children who are being a good friend at lunchtime. They award two friendship certificates per week at celebration assembly.
They had a Fairtrade Bake Off in class and sold their cakes at the Fairtrade Coffee Afternoon the next day.
They had a £32 loan from the PTA for ingredients and made £119 profit. Some will be reinvested into future cafe projects such as a Christmas coffee and cake afternoon. The remainder was added to our donation to CAFOD.
They helped to set up and serve at the Harvest Market on 4 October which raised £411 for CAFOD: Brighten Up the Harvest.
They have a crucial role in showing new parents around the school on our Open Days.
The Fairtrade Bake Off
The House Captains led the Red Kites Bake Off. Each of the four teams investigated where to buy Fairtrade ingredients and baked delicious cakes which they sold at the Fairtrade Cafe the next day. They served their parents, parishioners and Governors. They were congratulated for being polite, articulate and sensible. They made £119.50 profit. Some will be reinvested into another event and some donated to CAFOD. They now have the baking bug and aim to be entrepreneurs by reinvesting 50% of the profits in another project to accumulate larger profits.
